VDI/VDE-IT is a non-profit organisation set-up by two of the largest European professional associations for Engineers (VDI - German Association of Engineers and VDE - German As-sociation for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies). The company’s primary objective is to promote R&D in the area information technologies, to assist governmental authorities in developing initiatives for accelerating technological development and to speed up product and process innovation in SMEs.
VDI/VDE-IT is particularly experienced in managing R&D projects and programmes being in charge of design, implementation and management of technology support and R&D pro-grammes (e.g. “Microsystems Technologies” on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research). At international level VDI/VDE-IT is working for the European Commission and non-governmental organisations, carrying out studies on economic and technological is-sues, providing consulting on innovation technology transfer and management. Further issues of the VDI/VDE-IT’s portfolio are dissemination and launching initiatives related to public understanding of science and technology. A high priority field is last but not least training: VDI/VDE-IT was active in curriculum development for new vocational training measures and university courses and established training networks in high-tech areas.
Since its foundation in 1978, VDI/VDE-IT has provided assistance to more than 6,000 pro-jects. The company therefore has a profound knowledge in the management and the promo-tion of R&D and a deep insight in the particular needs of companies and public institutions.
