PUC-Rio was the first private higher education
institution in Brazil. It was founded in 1941 and in 1946 acquired the
status of University. PUC-Rio has always lead the University system in
Brazil, being now considered as the top private, and between the 5 top
institutions in the country. PUC-Rio has a special interest in several
fields of Science, Technology and Innovation, contributing to the
development of academic and scientific knowledge, as much as its
dissemination in the industry.
The logistic group of the Industrial Engineering Department has conducted two specific analytical projects in the ILIPT field of work. The first project concerned the automotive industry in the Mercosur Region (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay). The second project is still being conducted and concerns the supply chain management processes of the automotive industry in Brazil. Both projects have had financial support of the Brazilian National Council for Sciences and Technology, CNPq, which is a foundation linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT).
